La octogésima séptima entrega de los premios Oscar de la Academia se llevó a cabo en el Dolby Theater de Los Ángeles. Los grandes ganadores son The Grand Budapest Hotel, Whiplash y Birdman, que se lleva la estatuilla en la categoría de Mejor Película.
Uno de los momentos más llamativos de la noche fue el protagonizado por Alejandro Gonález Iñárritu. "Ruego por que podamos encontrar y tener el gobierno que merecemos". Así fue como, con un breve pero poderoso discurso en el que abogó por un mejor gobierno en México y un trato digno a los inmigrantes en Estados Unidos, el director subió al escenario para recibir su cuarto premio de la noche en la gala de los Oscar.
"A mis compañero mexicanos, rezo porque podamos conseguir el gobierno que nos merecemos, y a los que están en este país, rezo por que les traten igual de bien que a aquellos que vinieron antes y construyeron esta increíble nación de inmigrantes", declaró el mexicano.
La noche transcurrió sin apenas sorpresas, cumpliendo punto por punto el guión previsto de antemano a lo largo de más de tres horas y media de ceremonia. Eso sí, como suele ocurrir todos los años, uno de los momentos más emotivos, más allá del tradicional In memoriam, que recordó a figuras desaparecidas como Robin Williams y Richard Attenborough, se dio con el abrazo entre Lady Gaga y Julie Andrews, después de que la cantante interpretara el tema principal de la película Sonrisas y lágrimas.
